- Kevin Feige expressed openness to a Marvel/DC crossover but clarified no current plans exist.
- Kevin Feige occasionally thinks about it, but with the MCU and DCU expanding, it’s far off.
- James Gunn being the DCU’s chief could make the path to a crossover easier.
The possibilities of a Wonder and DC hybrid in the future have been tended to. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving forward at breakneck speed, and Marvel Studios has confirmed that they will attend San Diego Comic-Con to provide some significant information regarding the status of upcoming MCU projects. The DC Universe of James Gunn is moving in a different direction; the animated Creature Commandos will be the first part of the DCU’s Chapter One beginning in December. However, Marvel’s chief has considered the possibility of a crossover between the MCU and DCU for those who have already expressed an interest.
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige told Collider that a crossover between the MCU and DCU is possible, but there are no plans for it. Feige curiously noticed that he thinks “about it at times,” as most aficionados of the two comic book monsters do. A crossover, on the other hand, would still be a long way off given that the MCU is about to introduce the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and more while the DCU is still developing its identity. However, as Feige states, “We’ll never say never,” there is hope. The complete quote is provided below:
“I mean, I think about it occasionally, like any fan would think about it. I don’t know when in the heck that would ever happen, or how that would happen. But we’ve been talking too long for me to go, ‘Never! We’d never be able to do that.’ We’ll never say never, but no, no plans.”
Why A Marvel & DC Crossover Is More Likely Than Before
An MCU/DCU crossover is now more likely than it was when the DCEU was alive, despite the fact that it should have been a distant event. That is primarily due to the changes DC has undergone. Since DC Studios was established, James Gunn is now in charge of all things creative for DC films and series. It is common knowledge that Gunn was the director of Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation and the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige’s previous relationship with Gunn may make it simpler for DC and Marvel to merge. Feige even went to Gunn’s The Suicide Squad set, demonstrating just how friendly the two of them are. The head of DCU has mentioned the possibility of a crossover. Gunn made interesting remarks regarding a crossover between Marvel and DC, stating that he “would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it” and that his position at DC Studios now makes it more likely.
With Feige and Gunn open to a Wonder and DC hybrid, the ideal way for that to happen has proactively been laid out. DC has multiverse projects in both the film landscape and TV’s Arrowverse, and the MCU is currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga. This indicates that the general public is familiar with the multiverse, a plot device that would enable the Marvel and DC universes to collaborate on a film in the future. It’s possible that the heroes will need to work together to eliminate major antagonists from both universes in order to rule the multiverse.
