Keira Knightley’s Relationship Ultimatum Over Husband’s Diet Choices

Keira Knightley has shared that she once considered ending her relationship with now-husband James Righton due to his limited diet. The acclaimed actress, known for her role in the holiday classic Love Actually, revealed that Righton, a member of the band The Klaxons, subsisted almost exclusively on cheese on toast.

During an appearance on the Dish podcast, Knightley, aged 40, recounted the challenges she faced with Righton’s eating habits. She stated, “He just couldn’t cook — all he ate was cheese on toast. I was like, ‘This is not going to work.’ He wouldn’t even go out for dinner. He didn’t understand going to restaurants. He was bizarre.”

In an effort to broaden his culinary horizons, Knightley and a close friend decided to intervene. They encouraged Righton to try new dishes, sometimes with his eyes closed, to help him become more adventurous with food. “We took him out to restaurants and he wouldn’t try anything. He was like a child,” she noted. “He used to shut his eyes, and we’d be like, ‘Try it, try it!’”

Knightley fondly recalled how Righton eventually embraced new flavors, often responding with enthusiasm. “He’d be like ‘OK, it’s nice, it’s nice!’,” she laughed, reflecting on the transformation in his palate.

The couple, who wed in 2013, have since settled into a life together that includes more varied dining experiences. Knightley’s candid revelations highlight not only the humorous side of their early relationship but also the importance of compromise and growth in a partnership.

In addition to discussing her marriage, Knightley recently mentioned her experience with Love Actually, stating she has only watched the film once since its release in 2003. She expressed her inability to recall lines from the movie due to what she describes as a “delete button” in her memory.

In the film, Knightley portrays Juliet, who discovers that her husband’s best friend Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, harbors feelings for her. The poignant moment in which Mark confesses his affection using cue cards has become iconic, yet Knightley admits she struggles to remember the details.

Knightley’s openness about her relationship and her experiences in the film industry offers a glimpse into her life beyond the screen, revealing the personal challenges and triumphs that accompany fame.
