Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Unveiled by Reputable Leaker

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, tentatively named the iPhone Fold, has been previewed by well-known leaker Jon Prosser. In a recent video on his YouTube channel, FrontPageTech, Prosser showcased 3D renders of the device, sparking excitement among Apple enthusiasts. This device is anticipated to be part of Apple’s 2026 lineup, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

According to Prosser, Apple has opted for a book-style design for the foldable device after experimenting with various formats. This decision positions Apple to compete directly with existing foldable offerings such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, both released in 2025. Prosser humorously noted that after years of competitors leading the way, Apple is now ready to enter the foldable market.

Notably, one of the major concerns with foldable phones has been the visible crease that appears in the display. Prosser claims that Apple plans to address this issue by incorporating a metal plate to distribute pressure along with liquid metal in the hinge. This innovation could potentially enhance the user experience significantly.

The iPhone Fold is expected to have a closed thickness of approximately 9mm and a display size of 5.5 inches when closed, expanding to a larger 7.8-inch screen when opened. Prosser remarked, “You’re looking at 4.5mm thin – it’s kinda crazy.”

Camera capabilities are also a focal point, with the device reportedly featuring a total of four cameras: one on the exterior, two rear-facing, and one on the interior. An intriguing addition is the rumored return of Touch ID, which would be integrated into the power button located on the top of the device, a shift from the current Face ID technology.

In terms of design, Prosser indicated that the color options for the iPhone Fold would be limited to black and white, moving away from the more vibrant colors seen in recent releases. The pricing is expected to be high, with estimates ranging between $2,000 and $2,500, marking it as one of the more expensive options in the smartphone market.

While the excitement builds, Apple has remained tight-lipped regarding the iPhone Fold. John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, declined to comment on future products during a recent interview, stating, “We are so excited to talk about what we’re going to be shipping to people tomorrow.”

As anticipation grows for the official unveiling, expected in September 2026, this new direction for Apple could redefine their approach to smartphone design, responding to a market increasingly dominated by foldable technology.
