UPDATE: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) has just completed a transformative new garden at the LINAC bunker site, providing a much-needed calming space for patients, families, and staff. George Glennon, Technical Superintendent Radiographer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This new garden is such a wonderful addition to our hospital site. It offers an uplifting space where patients and their families can relax when attending the hospital, especially the Lingen Davies Centre.” The garden is designed to be a serene escape, promoting well-being for all who visit.
Inese Robotham, Assistant Chief Executive at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), commended the project’s completion, noting, “It is wonderful to see this project completed and the finishing touches put to the garden which will provide a calming space for patients, visitors, and staff. The new LINAC machine is crucial for cancer treatment, delivering high-energy X-rays or electrons with precision while minimizing radiation exposure to healthy tissues. Enhanced with advanced cameras using DoseRT technology, the machine monitors radiation doses for cancer patients, ensuring safety and efficacy in their treatment.
