Stephen Fry Reveals Prince of Wales ‘Locked Into’ The Celebrity Traitors

BREAKING: Sir Stephen Fry has just revealed that the Prince of Wales and his family were “locked into” the hit reality show, The Celebrity Traitors. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, the 68-year-old broadcaster shared the surprising impact the show had on its viewers, including members of the royal family.

Fry participated in the first celebrity spin-off of the popular BBC series, where contestants strive to identify the traitors among them while competing for a charity prize pot. The show has rapidly gained popularity, with comedian Alan Carr triumphing over fellow finalists David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed in a thrilling season finale.

Speaking candidly, Fry recounted a conversation with the Prince at the Royal Variety Performance, where the royal expressed his engagement with the show. Fry stated, “We had no idea what impact it would have across the demographic. Extraordinary.”

Fry explained that he had informed host Claudia Winkleman that he did not wish to assume the role of a traitor due to his belief that he lacked the necessary cunning. “The tension – I just don’t think I would have been very good,” he added.

The season has also drawn attention for the unexpected performance of historian Olusoga, who remained relatively quiet during discussions yet made it to the final stages. Fry noted the varied forms of intelligence among contestants, stating, “There are different kinds of intelligence, one of them is cunning. And I don’t have that.”

Meanwhile, presenter Jonathan Ross, who played a deceitful role throughout the series, admitted that he found the experience “quite unpleasant,” despite enjoying the game. He reflected on the emotional toll of banishing contestants, expressing sympathy for their feelings of disappointment when eliminated.

“I wound up kind of hating it because they’re all such lovely people and you’re lying through your teeth,” Ross shared. “It was, in some ways, quite unpleasant. I’m thrilled I did it. It was a great experience, once in a lifetime for all of us.”

Fans of the series won’t have to wait long for more, as The Traitors is set to return for its fourth series on January 1, 2024, at 8 PM on BBC One and iPlayer. This new season promises to bring even more excitement and intrigue to viewers.

Stay tuned for updates on this unfolding story and mark your calendars for the much-anticipated return of this beloved series!
