Two Teens Arrested After Police Helicopter Chase in Bidston

BREAKING: Two teenagers have been arrested following a dramatic police chase involving a helicopter in Bidston late Wednesday night. This incident unfolded at approximately 11:10 PM on November 19, when local residents reported nuisance motorbike and moped riding in the area.

Merseyside Police responded rapidly to the reports of reckless driving on Upton Road. The suspects fled towards Bidston Hill, abandoning a stolen motorbike and moped near Bidston Observatory. A police helicopter was deployed, successfully tracking the suspects to a woodland area close to Eleanor Road in Birkenhead.

Both suspects—identified as a 15-year-old boy from Beechwood and a 16-year-old boy from Woodchurch—were arrested on multiple charges, including suspected theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. They have since been released under investigation as authorities continue their inquiries.

Chief Inspector Derek Riley from the Matrix Disruption team emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating,

“This was not a game of hide and seek these two were ever likely to win, with eyes in the sky, wheels on the roads, and feet on the ground.”

He highlighted the dangers of vehicle crime and anti-social behavior, noting that what may appear as harmless fun can lead to severe injuries or fatalities on the roads.

The police urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Chief Inspector Riley added,

“Help us reduce the harm by calling 999 if a crime is in progress and, preferably, if you know where stolen or illegally owned bikes are being stored, come forward so we can take action before they bring fear to those who live nearby.”

Residents are encouraged to report crimes to Merseyside Police through their official social media channels or by calling 101. For anonymous tips, Crimestoppers can be contacted at 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in emergencies.

This urgent incident underscores the ongoing issues surrounding vehicle crime and anti-social behavior in communities, impacting residents’ safety and peace of mind.
