Prince William and Kate Middleton Honor Remembrance Day Today

UPDATE: The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to participate in meaningful events today, November 11, in honor of Armistice Day. The Prince will deliver a poignant video message to children across the UK, emphasizing the significance of remembrance and the red poppy as a symbol of gratitude.

At 10:25 AM, a virtual assembly hosted by the Royal British Legion will engage young people aged 9-14 in schools and home learning environments. In his address, Prince William states, “Armistice Day is an important time for us to stop and reflect — it is a reminder that remembrance is for everyone.” He calls on the youth to honor the sacrifices of veterans and active service members, highlighting the connection between remembrance and personal growth.

“Through my own military experience, I have seen first-hand the hard work and dedication of the armed forces,” William adds, reinforcing the importance of collective remembrance. The assembly will also include heartfelt testimonies from Second World War veterans, like 101-year-old George Durrant and 100-year-old Prince Albert Jacob, who share their inspiring stories.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales will attend a Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, commencing at 10:45 AM. The service will feature a two-minute silence at 11 AM, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Armed Forces Memorial. Attendees will hear a specially commissioned poem, “A Sonnet For Us All,” read by poet in residence Arji Manuelpillai, which reflects on the emotional significance of the memorials.

Manuelpillai remarked, “These human connections… resonate not only with me, but also with HRH The Princess of Wales, for whom the importance of service and compassion lies especially close to the heart.” After the service, Princess Kate will view newly dedicated names on the memorial and engage with veterans present.

Following the morning’s events, Prince William will meet with the King and Queen at Windsor Castle for a reception honoring veterans who served in the Pacific during the Second World War, continuing the observance of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

As the nation pauses to honor those who served, today’s events are a powerful reminder of the importance of remembrance and its impact on future generations. Tune in to the virtual assembly at 10:25 AM on YouTube or Zoom to witness this heartfelt tribute.
