Sunday Express Announces Expansion of British Builders Awards

The Sunday Express has confirmed the return of its flagship awards celebrating the best of Britain’s builders, following a highly successful inaugural event. The British Construction and Property Awards will take place in Manchester on April 30, 2026, featuring an expanded program that now includes over 25 categories. This growth comes in response to strong industry demand and aims to highlight the achievements of businesses and professionals driving the UK’s construction and property sectors.

The awards recognize outstanding contributions in innovation, leadership, and impact within the construction and real estate industries. New categories have been introduced this year, covering areas such as the best short and long-term lenders, student accommodation developers, facilities management teams, and international real estate agencies. The expansion reflects the evolving landscape of the sector and the increasing complexity of its challenges.

Construction firms, property developers, architects, lenders, and professional advisers are invited to submit nominations by the end of January, with the shortlist set to be announced in early February. The ceremony promises to showcase the remarkable projects and individuals that are critical to addressing the UK’s pressing need for new homes, sustainable infrastructure, and large-scale regeneration.

Sara Cahill, representing the British Construction and Property Awards, emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “Last year exceeded all expectations. The quality of entries was exceptional and the response from across the industry was phenomenal.” She noted that the demand for 2026 has already been remarkable, prompting the organization to expand the awards to include additional categories based on feedback from industry stakeholders.

Prominent categories for this year’s awards include Property Developer of the Year, Emerging Property Developer of the Year, Construction Business of the Year, Property Champion of the Year, and CEO of the Year. The awards will also acknowledge excellence in architectural design, legal services, marketing strategies, sustainability efforts, and initiatives promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

A spokesperson for the Sunday Express remarked, “After the outstanding success of the inaugural awards, we are proud to continue our partnership with the British Construction and Property Awards. These awards celebrate the people, projects, and organizations shaping the future of the built environment.” They highlighted that the expansion of award categories reflects the dynamic nature of the sector and its vital role in the UK economy.

As the construction and property industries face increasing demands, the 2026 awards will serve as a vital platform for recognizing excellence and fostering innovation in the built environment.
