Machine Gun Kelly and Jelly Roll share John Denver-inspired single ‘Lonely Road’
The music video for Machine Gun Kelly and Jelly Roll’s new song, “Lonely Road,” has been released.
The two spent two years working on the song, which features a revised chorus that pays homage to the John Denver classic, according to a post Kelly shared on Instagram last Wednesday, July 24.
“This Friday you’ll hear we finally got it right—8 different studios, 4 different countries, and 4 key changes,” he wrote.
The video, which was directed by Sam Cahill, stars Jelly Roll and Kelly as luckless mechanics, accompanied by their spouses, Megan Fox and Bunnie XO. Kelly robs a bank to help his expectant wife, but Jelly Roll chooses not to pursue a life of crime.
The words, “When the days feel long and the nights get cold/And I’m thousands of miles away/I use alcohol just to fill that hole/Will our home ever be the same?” also allude to an alcohol addiction. – Bunnie XO is shown clutching a letter that has an infertility diagnosis on it in the video, which also focuses on fertility-related topics.
The subject matter is private to the two couples in the video. The singer of “Need a Favor” and Bunnie XO revealed last month that they were attempting IVF to create their first child and that they would be documenting their experience on Instagram.
Kelly’s song “Don’t Let Me Go” also touches on Fox’s miscarriage. “This psychiatrist keeps evaluating / How can I live with the fact / That my hand wasn’t on her stomach when we lost the baby?” Kelly raps in the song.
Kelly wrote, “Jelly, you are a living, breathing badass and a kindred soul who has shown me the path of redemption and what it looks like to believe in yourself against all odds.” Jelly Roll and Kelly complimented each other on their work on the song.

Jelly Roll expressed similar thoughts on Instagram, writing: “The two guys that came from the same kind of place with less than zero percent of making it out it is what makes this collab so beautiful.” We have been acquainted for a minimum of fifteen years.
And it was a turbulent start in typical youthful dumb way, mostly because I was one of the many people who passed judgment on him before I gave him a chance. However, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing him grow into one of the world’s most successful artists over time, and maybe more significantly, I’ve seen him turn into one of the world’s greatest fathers and people.
Kelly began his journey into country music last month with a rendition of Zach Bryan’s “Sun To Me.” They last collaborated at CMA Fest in June.
