Ofsted Releases 2025 Reports on Sefton Schools and Colleges

In 2025, Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, published a series of inspection reports evaluating primary and secondary schools as well as further education and training providers in the Sefton area. These inspections are crucial for ensuring that educational institutions meet established standards and provide quality education to students.

Ofsted routinely assesses schools across Sefton, producing detailed reports that highlight their performance in various areas. The latest findings cover a range of institutions, underscoring the importance of maintaining educational standards for the benefit of students and the wider community.

Primary School Inspections

Among primary schools, several institutions received commendable assessments. Holy Rosary Catholic Primary School, located in Aintree, received a report on February 25, 2025, which noted that the school has become “ambitious for pupils to achieve well.” The report highlighted the effective support provided for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Another notable institution, Our Lady of Compassion Catholic Primary School in Formby, received a positive evaluation on April 2, 2025, with inspectors noting that “pupils thrive in this warm, happy and nurturing school.” The report praised the school’s high expectations for student behaviour and the supportive environment that fosters personal development.

In contrast, the inspection of Netherton Moss Primary School, which took place on April 29, 2025, revealed that while pupils enjoy the school environment, the institution “requires improvement” in leadership and management. The report emphasized the need for further development to enhance overall effectiveness.

Secondary Schools and Further Education

The assessment of secondary schools offered a mix of results. Stanley High School in Southport, inspected on June 24, 2025, received a grade of “requires improvement” across multiple areas, including quality of education and leadership. Inspectors noted that while students felt a sense of belonging, there remains significant work needed to elevate the school’s performance.

In a more positive light, Hugh Baird College, specializing in further education and training, achieved an “outstanding” rating in its report published on January 22, 2025. Inspectors commended the college for its commitment to transforming lives through education and training, emphasizing the institution’s extensive range of academic and technical curriculums.

The reports serve as a valuable resource for parents, educators, and policymakers, providing insight into the performance and areas for improvement within Sefton’s educational landscape. As Ofsted continues to monitor these institutions, the focus remains on fostering an environment that prioritizes student well-being and academic success.
