A new pre-school named Little Pioneers will open in Woolton Hill, welcoming its first students in April 2026. The pre-school, which will initially serve children aged three and four, is located on the site of St Thomas’ C of E Infant School. Plans are in place to extend services to younger children later in the year.
The initiative is part of a comprehensive renovation of the school’s existing Owls classroom and its expansive outdoor area. According to the federation overseeing the establishment, which also includes the nearby Woolton Hill Junior School, the revamped space aims to create a bright and inspiring environment that fosters early learning. The design is intended to encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence among young learners.
For working parents, the pre-school day will run from 08:45 to 15:15, with additional wrap-around care available from 07:45 to 18:00. Sessions will be structured in three-hour blocks, with an optional lunchtime slot. Families can utilize their government-funded 15 or 30 hours during term time, with the option to pay for additional sessions during school holidays. Notably, Little Pioneers will operate throughout the year, closing only for a two-week break at Christmas.
To provide further information to interested parents, The Schools of Woolton Hill will hold an introductory session on January 9, 2026, at 09:00. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Early Years teacher leading the project and gain insights into the pre-school’s offerings, session structure, and funding options. Parents can reserve their spots online at www.schoolsofwooltonhill.com/event-details/little-pioneers-introduction-tour. Once refurbishment is complete, families will be invited to tour the new facilities starting in March.
Paul Davies, headteacher of The Schools of Woolton Hill, expressed enthusiasm about the new pre-school. He stated, “Little Pioneers is an exciting step forward for our school community. We know how important those early years are for children and we are committed to offering a warm, nurturing, and high-quality environment where they can thrive.”
Davies highlighted the effort put into designing a setting that supports families and gives children the best possible start to their educational journey. He added, “We look forward to welcoming local families to see the space and learn more about what we will offer.” The initiative marks a significant development for the village, aiming to enhance early childhood education in the area.
