Meteorological Warning Issued as Heavy Rain and Winds Expected

The Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro has issued a warning regarding severe weather conditions expected over the next week. According to the Montenegro Hydrometeorological and Seismological Institute (ZHMS), residents should prepare for heavy rainfall accompanied by strong, and at times, storm-force winds from the south and southeast.

The anticipated meteorological conditions pose a risk of severe weather incidents in various localities across the region. The Directorate emphasizes that such weather could significantly disrupt everyday activities and lead to various consequences on the ground. Citizens and institutions are encouraged to take several precautions to ensure safety.

Precautionary Measures Recommended

The Directorate advises that residents adjust their activities according to the current weather conditions. Specifically, they should avoid being outdoors during the heaviest rainfall and wind gusts. Additionally, monitoring official announcements and recommendations from relevant authorities through media and official communication channels is crucial.

Particular attention should be paid to the status of watercourses, drainage systems, and the structural stability of buildings, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas. The Directorate urges the public to ensure unobstructed access for fire and rescue services in the event of emergencies.

This warning has been disseminated to all entities within the protection and rescue system, along with a recommendation to enhance operational readiness and strengthen monitoring of the situation on the ground.

As Montenegro braces for these challenging weather conditions, community cooperation and adherence to safety measures will be vital in mitigating potential risks.
