A significant health risk has prompted PUREPOWER Nutrition to issue an urgent recall of two ready-meal products. The recall affects the company’s Chicken & Chorizo Paella, which was incorrectly packaged with Chicken Chow Mein. The mispackaging has raised concerns due to the presence of milk in the paella, an ingredient not listed on its label. This oversight could endanger individuals with allergies or intolerances to milk or its derivatives.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) emphasized the potential health risks associated with the mislabeling. According to their statement, “PUREPOWER Nutrition is recalling Chicken & Chorizo Paella because it has been mispacked with Chicken Chow Mein and contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label, and is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
As a precautionary measure, the company is also recalling the Chicken Chow Mein since it has been mistakenly packaged with the paella. This proactive response aims to prevent any adverse reactions among consumers.
Customers who have purchased either product are advised to return them to the point of sale for a full refund. Those seeking further information can contact the company’s customer care line via email at [email protected].
The FSA noted that PUREPOWER Nutrition has been instructed to communicate with relevant allergy support organizations to inform their members about the recall. Additionally, the company has distributed point-of-sale notices to customers, detailing the reasons behind the recall and outlining the steps for those who have bought the affected products.
The Chicken & Chorizo Paella is sold in 400g packages with a use-by date of up to and including January 17, 2024, while the Chicken Chow Mein has a use-by date of up to and including January 15, 2024. Consumers are urged to check their purchases and adhere to the recall instructions to ensure their safety.
